PRIMETIME 12th Man

Time for my “Q-eys” to the matchup! First Sunday Night…Now We Get To Play On Monday Night Football. Hooray.

A year ago at this time, the Seattle Seahawks were 6-6 and in contention for a division title in the NFC West. IN Week 14 they laid a stinker to the 49ers losing 40-21.

Seahawks Stats

Hopefully we get a different Week 14 result this year.

The times have changed since head coach Pete Carroll won the division in his first season as the Seahawks’ coach, and with the rise of the San Francisco 49ers, the postseason was an afterthought for this team when they lost six of their first eight games.

But with wins in three of their last four and a renewed sense of optimism surrounding the team, Seattle will try to clinch consecutive wins for just the second time this season as they host the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football.

The team that competed with the Seahawks for the NFC West title until the final game of the season a year ago is the Rams, which have managed to clinch just two wins this year.

Monday Night Football on ESPN is coming to town. Oh Joy!

Many expected that St. Louis would take another step forward in their division and contend for a postseason spot again this year, but that hasn’t been the case as injuries and inconsistencies have prevented the team from achieving their goals.

The Rams’ season hit a new low with a 26-0 loss to the 49ers on the road last weekend, a game in which they managed to gain just 157 total yards and 10 first downs.

St. Louis ranks near the bottom of the league in terms of both the run and passing game, and it’s going to be difficult getting things going in their second consecutive road game.

The Seahawks have managed to score at least 22 points in winning three of their last four, capped off with another impressive performance from Marshawn Lynch in a 31-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in which he registered 148 yards and two touchdowns, including another big score in which he refused to go down despite appearing to be completely wrapped up.

Seattle will continue to ride Lynch and a defense that appears to be improving as the season goes on, and the fact that quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is starting to become very efficient under center will only help.

The Rams will have a tough time even keeping this one close.

My Keys To The Game

1) Don’t take the Lambs Lightly

We all witnessed what happened 2 weeks ago when Washington rolled into Seattle. This was a game the Seahawks SHOULD have won EASILY. End result, was a Redskins win. They need to start this game before the opening kick off.

Bring an intensity that the Rams cannot match.

Outwill them on Monday night.

2) Golden Tate Factor

4 catches for 47 yards and a TD last week. Can he produce this again on Monday night? He’s the X-factor for me. He’s getting his chance on the field to proove why he should be the #3 guy in the rotation. Step up Golden.

Pretend there’s a lifetime supply of Top Pot Donuts waiting for you in the endzone.

3) O-Line

Can the all European Mash unit protect Tarvaris Jackson? Who the hell are these guys anyways?

Paul McQuistan, Breno Giacomini, and Lemuel Jeanpierre?

Sounds like B Movie actors in a bad Van Damme flick doesn’t it? These guys are under pressure.

Pete Carroll

Hey Captain Khaki - DO NOT under any circumstances attempt a 73 yard FG.

They have to get on the same page and NOW.

Robert Gallery and Max Unger have their work cut out for them on Monday night. They have to find some cohesiveness quickly.

4) Chris Clemons

Chris Clemons should have a field day against the scrubs the Rams put out on the field at tackle. I truly expect us to be getting hammered playing the  Chris Clemons drinking game Monday night.

NEWSFLASH: We may even see Raheem Brock earn a paycheck this week. (He of the 12 tackles and 1 sack in 2011 fame)

5) Captain Khaki – Pete Carroll

MEMO TO PETE!

  • DO NOT under any circumstances attempt a 73 yard FG.
  • DO NOT go for it with 3 seconds left and no timeouts from the 5 yard line on 4th down.
  • DO NOT allow your team to get 10+ penalties on Monday night.
  • We haven’t been officially eliminated yet. I expect to see you guys play like you still have a Super Bowl to play for.
  • DO NOT FORGET TO UNLEASH BEASTMODE!
  • DO NOT forget to motivate and teach your Seahawks to play their best game of the season Pete. There are still playoff hopes for this fan base.

My Prediction: Seahawks find a way to keep the Rams in this one till the 10 minute mark of the first quarter. Blowout win. Seahawks by 23. If Bradford plays. Seahawks by 26.

PS. Zach Miller thanks for showing up last week. Pressure is on now. Can you show up two games in a row please? Signed “The 12th Man”.
